The Application Layer is designed to manage five categories of applications, which together provide a robust set of options that cover almost all business and consumer needs.

The categories and how they function in the EncryptaKey environment are as follows:

• EncryptaKey Secure Applications - because the EncryptaKey solution employs its own operating system separate and distinct from Windows and MAC OS, a suite of secure web-based applications has been developed specifically for use in the EncryptaKey environment. Available as a part of EncryptaKey Server and accessed by a browser running on the EncryptaKey Device, these highly secure applications make full use of EncryptaKey’s power.
• Corporate Web Applications – these are company owned and operated web applications that a business or enterprise makes available to their employees (e,g, corporate ERP system) or their customers (e,g, online banking services). Protected within the same datacenter environment as the Server, they are similarly accessed by a browser running on the EncryptaKey Device.
• Corporate Client-Server Applications – these are company owned and operated applications, typically only for internal employee use. Protected within the same datacenter environment as the Server, they are accessed either by a small thin-client version of the client application run directly from the EncryptaKey Device, or via a Remote Desktop functionality which gives the user remote access to a computer within the corporation’s “four walls” that is running the client application.
• Third Party Web Applications – examples might include employees using third party web solutions such as online CRM applications, Software as a Service, or online banking customers using third party loan advisor applications. These require an Agent for secure data exchange, and are accessed by a browser running on the EncryptaKey Device.
• Ecommerce sites – sites that require payment card transactions. Accessed by a browser running on the EncryptaKey Device, these require an Agent on third party ecommerce sites for secure data exchange, as well as the Transaction Server module for payment card processing.
